We spotted Rachel McAdams sporting a very old timey hairdo in New York City yesterday, but that’s probably because she was on the set of Sherlock Holmes! Rachel was joined by her co-stars, Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes) and Jude Law (Dr. Watson). Both Rachel and Jude had small cuts on their faces, hope that was just stage make up! The Guy Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes will come out some time in 2010.
Even though he’s just released RocknRolla, Guy Ritchie is hard at work on his next project. We spotted Guy and Robert Downy Jr. filming a new screen adaption of Sir Author Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes.
Currently shooting in London, Robert will play the titular character with Jude Law as his sidekick Dr. Watson and Rachel McAdams as Holmes’ love interest, Mary.
Robert told the Guardian that Guy was taking on the story in an innovative way (in comparison to previous versions), "[we're] returning to a little bit more of what the stories always had in them and the scale of them and the canvas is so huge I just don’t think they’ve ever had the budget to fully tell the story in a really big, fun way." Guy Ritchie added, "We’re trying to be as authentic as we can to the original Sherlock Holmes. We’ve tried to include a bit more Conan Doyle in it."

Now this is a good crew of people to roll up to a bar with. We spotted Tropic Thunder stars Robert Downey Jr., Ben Stiller and Ben’s wife Christine Taylor enjoying themselves at Manhattan’s Waverly Inn. Tropic Thunder, which opened yesterday, has already been getting great reviews and praise for it’s "inside joke" take on the film industry.
I know those of us under the age of 18 sometimes forget that were movies stars before the Zac Effrons and Chace Crawfords of the world, but there are actually actors out there, who are older than 35 years old! And they’re not all wrinkly and decrepit! Some of them are quite funny actually (and quite handsome), like Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr. (swoon) and Ben Stiller who walked the red carpet at the MTV movie awards last night. The trio star in the new movie Tropic Thunder, a movie in which, "Through a series of freak occurrences, a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying." Also on hand was host Mike Myers. I was psyched to see him bring Dana Carvey back for a Wayne’s World skit ("It’s been a long time…yeah, like 14 years!"). Thank god for WW, I think I might quote that movie on a daily basis, almost on a subconscious level. If it weren’t for Mike Myer’s, we’d never have a clip like this.
The summer blockbuster season is upon us and comic book fans will surely be excited for the release of Iron Man. The film’s stars were on hand for a photocall in Rome today looking chummy as they stood side by side. Robert Downy Jr., Terrence Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow may not be the first names that come to mind when you think of an action film critics are already saying it was perfectly cast!
