Lily’s in the pink

Singer Lily Allen has bailed on the remainder of her current U.S. tour after its punishing schedule began to take its toll on her performances. We stopped by to say hello as the British pop sensation was shooting some video footage at the beach in Santa Monica, CA, today. And Lily looked happier than she has in ages – probably due to the relief of not having back to back shows for the next six months.
Lily, 21, wrote on her myspace page: “I have been on tour with this album for a year now, I have fulfilled every commitment up to this point. I am tired, but more than that I don’t think I have been giving my best performances recently.”
Although the daughter of British actor and comedian Keith Allen denied that she’d made the move due to pregnancy or deciding to check into rehab, she admitted that alcohol had played a part in her decision.
“I have been getting really drunk because I’ve been so nervous about doing bad shows, and I don’t want people spending money on [sic] a going to see a show that isn’t the best it could be,” she admitted in a posting on www.myspace.com/lilymusic.
“I am not falling apart at the seems [sic], I am not suffering with exhaustion, I am not pregnant, and I am not going to rehab,” she confirmed.
As a result she will be able to meet certain performance commitments and plans to remain in the United States to carry on promoting her debut album ‘Alright, Still’.
She revealed she was also planning on working on the follow-up while ‘Stateside.
“I will be here in America, promoting the album and also starting to write the second album, which I am beyond excited about,” she said.
