Of course the famous peeps weren’t the only ones getting in the spirit of things, D.C. is absolutely filled to the brim with hundred of thousands of people who are braving the cold to be a part of history. Take a look at some of the patriot images below!
President Barack Obama has been officially sworn in as the 44th president of the United States! Millions will now be still and listen as our new president delivers his inaugural address to the nation.
Well maybe it was more the president-elect rather than the guy on the penny that inspired various celebrities and musicians to gather in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. for the "We Are One" concert.
President-Elect Obama and Michelle Obama looked on as Bruce Springsteen, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Shakira, Bono and Beyonce played inspirational inauguration tunes. Wiil. I. Am., Rosario Dawson and Queen Latifah also were in attendance.
Celebs and common folk alike will continue to spill into D.C. to watch history in the making tomorrow as our 44th president is sworn in!
The campaigns are over, the polls are closed and the ballots have been counted; Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States of America and is making history as the first African-American president.
In a campaign marked by hope and change, the President-Elect delivered his victory speech in his hometown of Chicago last night. In a celebratory yet somber address, he began, "If there is anyone who still doubts that America is a place where all things possible…tonight is your answer."
Celebrations will still continue today, not in just in America but around the world. Today we truly embark upon a new, and hopefully more united nation.
Barack Obama has officially cast his vote for president, I wonder who he voted for?? (Har har).
We watched the Democratic presidential nominee arrive at his designated poll, Beulah Shoesmith Elementary School, in his hometown of Chicago, Ill. Barack was joined by his wife Michelle and their two daughters Malia and Sasha.
Republican nominee John McCain will cast his vote in Phoenix, Az.
Barack Obama clinched the Democratic presidential nomination last night and is making history as first-ever African-American presidential nominee for a major party. Obama celebrated his victory in St. Paul, Minnesota last amid thousands of supporters. "Tonight we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another, a journey that will bring a new and better day to America," he told the massive crowd. "Because of you, tonight, I can stand here and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States."
Obama will now spend the next five months campaigning against Republican presidential nominee John McCain. And while this blog mostly steers clear of politics, you can be sure you will see the latest from all the celebs in their Obama t-shirts at all their crazy expensive "rallies". Of course, we’ll show you the handful that rock their McCain booty shorts too!
There was the Super Bowl on Sunday, Fashion Week is still going strong and today is also Mardi Gras…but I think there’s one thing we’re leaving out…oh yeah, it’s Super Tuesday! Today is the day in the presidential primaries when several states vote at one time. Celebrities love to endorse candidates, which I find pretty amusing. Well if Scarlett Johansson likes Obama, then surely he’s the president for me! I say, become informed for yourself and vote on the person who most suits your needs and interests, not based on what some airhead on the cover of a magazine says. And unlike a newspaper and some other blogs out there, we won’t be throwing our support behind any candidate in particular, unless say, Justin Timberlake throws hit hat in the ring…in which case I will personally run his campaign for him!
