Whitney Houston passed away this afternoon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She was 48-years-old.

So far there’s no word on a possible cause of death, though the she did have a long struggle with drug addiction. Whitney had recently rekindled her on-again, off-again romance with singer Ray-J. According to his publicist, Whitney’s bodyguard (who’s also named Ray) was the one who found her.

A 911 call was placed at 3:43 this afternoon, and emergency personnel were on the scene in 2 minutes. CPR was performed, but Houston couldn’t be revived, and she was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:55.

According to New Edition member Johnny Gill, Whitney’s ex-husband Bobby Brown is currently in Memphis and scheduled to perform with the band. And as of the most recent report, he’s still trying to pull himself together and get out on stage. Brown has spoken to Bobbi Kristina, his daughter with Whitney, and she’s understandably not doing well. She’s in L.A., though no word on whether or not the 19-year-old was in Houston’s Beverly Hills hotel room when she died.
