At first glance Carla Bruni could almost have been mistaken for any new mother out for a walk in Paris. Then you notice the security team trailing behind her and remember this is France’s first lady and first baby.

Of course Giulia Sarkozy’s face was completely hidden, in keeping with Bruni’s proclamations that she would protect her child from photographers and even the whole world. Sounds like fun for the kid!

Hopefully venturing for a walk in public means the new mom’s lioness instincts are relaxing a little.

In related news, last night Bruni ran into former flame Mick Jagger at a party honoring Martin Scorsese at the Elysees Palace in Paris. How fancy was that sentence? According to People, the encounter wasn’t awkward and the two chatted amiably for a few minutes.
