Princess Catherine and Prince William were in Windsor yesterday presenting operational medals to the Irish Guards. And then Catherine got to do the traditional walking up and down rows of soldiers and pretending to inspect them. That sort of thing always reminds me of Madeline Kahn in The History of the World Part 1 where she inspects the soldiers for the orgy. Sorry, that song may be stuck in your head for a while.

So Catherine looks fabulous but she doesn’t say much. At least publicly. And on her upcoming tour to North America, she won’t be chatting all that much either. Her predecessor, Princess Diana spoke a whopping 600 words in public during the first 8 years of royal life. We’ve done the math. That’s 75 words a year. Jeez! And Princess Catherine will follow the same protocol. Oh well. She looks fabulous. That will have to be enough.
