American Idol runner up Lauren Alaina stands a good chance at becoming a big celebrity like Scotty McCreery. Lauren’s new single, Like My Mother Does, is already on the Billboard charts and she’s out there doing the media tour. We caught up with her as she was heading in to see Regis and Kelly.

Lauren was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as well and sat next to Jay’s other guest, Piers Morgan. The always outspoken Piers said that he thought Alaina has the better voice and should have won. Lauren looked at him and said, “Want to hear something funny? I tried out for your show (America’s Got Talent) and I didn’t make it.” Alaina had actually tried out twice and was cut both times. Piers was stunned and embarrassed - two things we need more of out of him – and covered his mouth in disbelief. Classic! Go Lauren!!
