We just found Jessica Simpson and her boyfriend Eric Johnson leaving the Ritz Carlton in New York City. Simpson is in the city premiering her new jeanswear collection for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Last night she was revealed as the surprise guest judge on the season finale of Project Runway.

Simpson may be escaping the city soon after all the negative attention she’s received for her own personal style. Many websites are asking, “Why is Jessica Simpson ‘designing’ clothes when she can’t even properly dress herself?” It’s a fair enough question. Jess has hits and misses, but her misses are startling and garner a lot of press. But we think Simpson looked just fine when we caught up with her today, pairing a dark floral blouse with black leggings and brown leather boots.
