First X-Men Pics! January Jones is White Hot on Set

INF Daily spotted Mad Men actress January Jones on the set of X-Men: First Class in Buckinghamshire, England earlier today. January was clad in her sexy head-to-toe “White Queen” costume: a short white coat, knee-high white boots, and a fuzzy white Russian hat. In between takes she added an ankle-length puffy jacket and bright rain boots for a splash of color.

We spotted January passing the time by taking pictures of the X-Men set and her castmates before she wandered around with her stunt double. A set with two January Joneses? Yes please!

  • X-Fan

    January needs to eat something.

  • EZ

Thats definitely not Emma Frost. Too skinny. We all know that comic book women are supposed to be hot. They got it right with black widow in Iron Man 2. I dont think I ever heard anyone brag about how fine the X-women are from the films beside the obviously naked mystique which was just a distraction from the actual crappy plots of the films. After four ridiculously cheaply made X-men movies, I think its safe to say this one wont fair any better.

  • misur lou

    January Jones looks fabulous!

  • Cyber-X

  • Hana

    Lame!

  • The Black Death

That hat looks dumb as hell on her.

  • Jim

Hahaha looks like they’re really taking this “set in the 60s” this quite seriously. She looks like she stepped out of a Sean Connery James Bond movie! Hehehe

  • http://cupcakerogues@wordpress.com Rogue237

This looks terrible. Not to mention the fact that Emma Frost was a fetus in the 60s. And Emma Grace Frost would not be caught DEAD in that hat. Kelly Carlson would’ve made a much more convincing Emma.

  • Gig

She actually wore that hat in the comics.

Don’t believe me? Check out the first issue of the Morrison/Silvestri Days of Future’s Past knock off. Last few pages, Scott is mourning over Jean and Emma is giving him crap about it….in that hat.

  • kingpin

that stunt double is rubbish 1. her hat is adifferent size 2. her tights are a different colour and her hair is a different length and colour ….come on big budget and cutting corners

  • GOM

WTF?!!! Emma Frost is around the same age as Storm, Scott and Jean Grey. Why is she in this Xmen movie as a grown woman…? When Jean Grey became the Black Queen of the Hellfire Club, Emma Frost was the White Queen…and close in age to Jean.

Don’t tell me they are just stuffing characters in the movie and changing their ages….DAMMITT!! That is always a sign of doom for a comic book based movie.

  • Dartfin

    “That hat look stupid”
IT’S SET IN THE 60s!!! WOW! Apparently people think people have always worn skinny jeans and wife beaters. Different era, different fashion. And that certainly was fashionable in the 60s (though it seems a bit more early 70s with the cut). Emma Frost is nothing if not fashionable.

  • Whatttt??????

Bah, not impressed at all!! I agree with EZ, Emma Frost is Hot and January Jones is not!!!! Don’t believe me check this pic of Emma Frost http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeekfiles/2008/07/surprise-new-character-reveale.html

  • tim dwyer

    cyber x learn to spell

  • JMaG

Still Wish that Alice Eve took this role.

  • http://crichton007.blogspot.com crichton007

I think she looks like Emma Frost from the era of Mad Men.

  • Felix

January Jones looks like a skeleton. I like a fat ass :D

  • Captain Sidney

Who the hell is January Jones? Indy’s aneorexic baby sister?

I’m pissed off about the whole X-Men franchise of movies. First they edit out my favorite characters Gambit. And make Bobby Drake and Rogue fall in love. I’m pretty sure Iceman was more of a sarcastic character that tried to be a ladies man, but never was attached to anyone for very long. And the Wolverine movie was just terrible. I don’t see any reason that this movie would be any better. That being said I think the brightest thing from these X-Men movies is that they casted two roles correctly. Kelsey Grammer as Beast and Patrick Stewart as Professor X. The the others they casted weren’t up to snuff. And Gambit was a major player and it’s sad to see him shunned like this.

  • Simone

I’m sorry, but this portrayal of Emma Frost does not cut it for me. January Jones has potential (maybe for an older Cuckoo [don't know who that is? pick up a comic and find out, loser] on drugs) but she is no Emma Grace Frost. Ugh.

  • Meister

Somebody buy that bag o’ bones a cheezboiger!

  • Meister

    Whoops! I meant SHARKburger!

  • Brother Cliff

First. I highly doubt the “budget” for this movie has anything to do with the decision to use a particular $50 hat and a pair of $20 tights. Second…we already know this movie is completely revisionist. Third. Get her the white leather bodice we all know and love damnit.

  • JJ

    Don’t be hatin’! :-(

  • BatNips

This has singer written all over it …horrific.

This is another superman returns or worse, X2

  • Blackhart

This is part of why I got turned off to comics. Folks just finding the silliest excuses to be hatin’. Shallow & shameful.

  • mr. daydream

Take off that dumba** hat and show some cleavage like in the cartoons and comics

  • Some Guy

    This movie is gonna suck

  • adam

wow looks 60′s kitchy wear to me. Besides emma was introduced in the 70′s and would be like 40 or so in the 2000 cause she’s like 20ish in the 70′s. And jean and scott in the real world would now be like 40 or 50 too. come on guys its comic book time versus real time. Get over it. Looks great to me.

  • Harriet

Since when did Emma look like she had an eating disorder?

Why is it that every time I allow myself to get excited about a film from the X-Man franchise, they always manage to f*ck it up somehow?

Emma Frost is my favourite character. She is no Emma Frost.

    *Sigh*

Let’s just hope her acting skills make up for this initial faux pas.

  • http://comicsandthing-rob.blogspot.com Robert

I’d have to agree with a few of the comments, that she’s a bit thin for this part. She should be more robust and sultry looking. Definitely a cuckoo candidate. Let’s see if she’s got the attitude to pull it off.

  • jonathanw.

people need to realize that the films and the comics are not the same reality. just like the regular marvel universe isn’t the same as the ultimate universe. different realities mean differnt rules. just think of it like that or you will never enjoy any film adaptation of a comic book.

  • Ejigantor

Wait, she’s supposed to be attractive? Ugh. As far as looking like Emma Frost, she couldn’t look less the part if she dyed her hair green.

  • Luis

I am not digging it. I have to agree with the comment about the X-Men franchise, nothing but like 10 minutes of Gambit, killing off Cyclops, lame Rogue. I could do better, who the hell is writing this movies??? The costume does not look good. WTF is up with the hat?

  • JT

No, it’s NOT the Emma Frost we see in the comics today, these are those characters as TEENS. Remember, it’s a PREquel I think the movie itself takes place in the mid-sixties.

  • DudeGuy

What in the world is your PROBLEM EZ?!!! The first two X-men were the best. the second ranks highest overall, I have to agree that the third one was total crap (Thanks a lot Brett Ratner for destroying my favorite comic series), and the fourth lacked something. But, a complete dud?! I think NOT! I have greater expectations for this film than of the third and fourth. Mostly because they have Bryan Singer back on the team (not in the director’s chair unfortunately, but on the team nonetheless). He was outstand ing on the first two films. I agree that the hat looks lame, but it must have some functionality in the film.

  • Ralph

Gom. Seriously dude? Since when has changing comic continuity for a movie ever spelled doom for it? I don’t think I’ve seen a single comic based movie that didn’t change some or many things to fit into the cinematic mold. Characters ages in the comics (which are always left quite ambiguous for a reason) are the least of these things. Frankly, those who decry the changes in comic book to movie continuity always annoy me. It’s simply too difficult to properly translate 30-50 years of continuity into a 2 hour film. For those comic geeks (like me) just think of this movie taking place in an alternate reality. This is not the 616 X-Men. Okay?

My big problem is not maintaining continuity within one’s own film franchise.

My understanding is that X-Men 1-3, the Wolverine movie(s) and X-Men: First Class are all supposed to be directly linked to one another.

So, why was Kitty Pryde played by 3 different actresses in 3 back-to-back-to-back films? Why was her age never consistent? Why is Emma Frost being played by a different actress in X-Men: First Class than she was in Wolverine? Why is James McAvoy playing professor X in the film instead of a de-aged Patrick Stewart as he did at the end of Wolverine (the first time he meets Scott Summers and Emma Frost)?

All of these things bother me more than discontinuities from the comic.

  • Peter Boxall

she looks ridiculous! LOL THIS MOVIE WILL BE SHIT! LOL

  • dpdpsana

i think she looks fantastic, the film is set in the 60′s plus she is outside in these shots. SHUT UP YOU STUPID JERK PETER BOXALL

  • DoctorWho

I agree with everybody who said this chick need to put some meat on her bones. Based on what I have seen it can’t be no better when she takes that jacket off.

  • Malcolm Reynolds

They screwed up the entire X-MAN series from day one. The first X-Men were cyclops, beast, ice-man, marvel girl, Angel. In the movies they had Wolverine TRAINING X-men who, in the comics, were in charge of training HIM! It’s been ridiculous, the whole ice-man Rogue romance would have sent Bobby to jail for statutory rape, Then they put Gambit in the wolverine X-men PREquel making him older than angel? So, it doesn’t much surprise me that they are CONTINUING to screw this whole marvel sideline up beyond recognition. I just hope it doesn’t hurt the other Marvel lines being brought out. As for the white queen seen above: I have to agree (a little less vitriolically) with EZ. Women today could use role models that are healthier than this twig. As for marvel movies that follow the comics, I loved the ones that did, but, nobody else seemed to have, ie; Daredevil, Punisher (NOT THE DOLPH LUNDGREN FIASCO!!!!), Ghost Rider and Fantastic Four. Although, the Fan 4 seemed to get pretty good reviews.

    hi

  • Rockychavomunoz

Yep I agree they are destroying X-MAN. But in the X-men they are creating a whole new continuity not following old bases. Im not defending the BS continuity in the movies Im just saying First class has the oppourtunity to fix this. You can suck on ur angel all u want but do u know how old Gambit really is. white Queen/ EF has never had “baby back” so lets ixnay that as well. c’mon are you telling me ur a crybaby fan boy? Smh. They’re making the film alright- stop complaining please. all u bitch-ass fanboys need to realize a comic is a series of events. To make a movie is a singular event. A standard universe of movies is based on trilogies. What I mean if ur not following is that by making a movie you are creating a new universe only to accomplish one event in a series. therefore why they smush heroes and villans in every movie. Its wealth is based on its adaptation and direction. Xmen 1 fairly well, 2 alright, 3 slightly insane. But its bad direction. Nuff said.
