Was Miley Cyrus’ MuchMusic Awards Performance “Borderline Racist?”
Miley Cyrus not only performed at the MuchMusic Awards yesterday but she also co-hosted. And didn’t do a terribly great job. Miley repeatedly messed up her lines, then awkwardly blamed her cue cards. Cyrus’ first performance was alright if unmemorable – Party in the USA got her in a lot of trouble at the Teen Choice Awards last year when Cyrus pole danced on an ice cream cart. This year she played it safer – and played to the crowd. Miley changed the lyrics from “a Jay-Z song was on” to “a JB song was on” and out rolled Justin Bieber on a bicycle. Miley rubbed against him a bit but was generally very restrained – at least for her.
Later on though, Miley Cyrus sang Can’t Be Tamed off her latest CD by the same name. The New York Daily News is calling the performance “borderline racist” due to the dancers tribal/jungle attire – and all the shrunken heads. We’ll let you be the judge – the night certainly led to some colorful photos.
