Dancing With The Stars really takes its toll on its contestants and unfortunately Melissa Rycroft is the latest victim.  Mel has sustained a hair line fracture to her rib that caused her to sit out Monday night’s competition.  We spotted Melissa leaving a medical center in Los Angeles on Tuesday night with her boyfriend Ty Strickland after receiving some treatment.

Luckily, Melissa is expected to recover and wants to return to DTWS and thanks to some sympathetic judges, she and partner Tony Dovolani were able to stay in the game. 

"My heart went out to the judges because they had to base their comments on us making a routine!" Tony told US Weekly. "It wasn’t even dress rehearsal, it was orchestra rehearsal! And we had already done it three times, so I told her to take it easy on that one. I mean, talk about bad luck! But, you know, I never question what God puts in front of me. So if this is what I have to go through, then this is what I have to go through. God always picks strong people to go through these situations, so I guess I’m the one."

Jessica Alba turned 28 on Tuesday and what better way to celebrate your birthday than buying yourself a present!  We spotted Jess with a friend at West Hollywood boutique Soolip picking out a few items.

The actress’s real b-day bash was over the weekend with an 80s themed party.  Guest dressed in head to toe 80s gear and danced the night away to Prince and Madonna.  She and husband Cash Warren welcomed about 50 friends – including Sarah Silverman, NBA star Baron Davis and Rosario Dawson – to their home for the gala

Nicole Richie and Harlow Madden spent some quality mommy and me time in West Hollywood yesterday.  The pair dined at Cafe Med before Nicole scooped Harlow up and stuffed into her baby seat in the back of the car.

Harlow’s dad, Joel Madden, recently had an incident with airline British Airways.  Apparently an employee called Joel’s numerous tattoos "offensive" and that he needed to cover them up before he got on the flight.  I bet Harlow doesn’t mind her dad’s tats!

Mel Gibson surprised the public by appearing with his new girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, last night.  Mel and Oksana walked hand and hand as they attended the X-Men Origins: Wolverine premiere in Hollywood.

The actor’s soon-to-be-ex-wife, Robin Gibson, filed for divorce last week but Mel claims that they had been separated for at least two years.  Mel’s rep tells People, "Mel has been single for almost three years and it’s nice to see him getting out and enjoying himself."

Well, way to upstage Hugh Jackman!  He’s the Wolverine, not you, Mel!

The nation was devastated when Lauren Conrad announced that after four seasons, she would not be returning to The Hills.  "What are we going to do?  Who are we going to watch eat dinner?" we said as we turned to each other with tear filled eyes but fear not tv-loving public, the show will go on.

MTV has announced that the baffling reality cash cow will return for a fifth season.  "Spencer and Heidi will be newlyweds, so the stakes are higher than ever before for the two to make things work," the network said in a statement released this week. "Viewers will find out life in Los Angeles only gets more complicated as friendships, relationships and loyalties are tested like never before."

More friendship testing?  What’s next? Literal backstabbing?

So who’s still kicking around/cashing MTV’s checks?  Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, Spencer Pratt, Brody Jenner, Stephanie Pratt, Lo Bosworth, Justin Bobby and "fresh faces".  I don’t think there’s any such thing as a "fresh face" in LA, but I’d love to see it drink through a straw and stare vacantly.

Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian dined with Kelly Osbourne last night, apparently after her waking her up from a nap.  The trio dined at Il Sole in Los Angeles last night and while Khloe and Kourtney seemed like they were having a good time, Kelly seemed zonked out; seriously, what was up with the look on her face?  Did she fall asleep in her soup?

We spotted Michael Jackson rocking his favorite repurposed SARS mask.  The King of Pop looked totally swine flu ready yesterday afternoon as he shopped in Los Angeles.  Fedora? Check. Green Master’s jacket and red silk pajama bottoms? Check and check. Pair that look up with a pair of sunglasses and a dust mask and MJ is basically impenetrable!

Kim Kardashian has put her blonde weave back on the shelf for now.  The reality star stepped out with hip hop mogul Russell Simmons in New York City last night and wore an all-black jumpsuit to match her raven tresses. 

Interesting ensemble Kim’s got on, no?  How does one even squeeze themselves into pants and a top that are connected…there aren’t any straps either…how does she keep those things up?  As always with KK, so many questions, so few answers.
