We spotted Tatum O’Neal walking to meet a sponsor in NYC this afternoon.  Tatum, who was busted by cops over the weekend when she attempted to buy crack cocaine, says she actually thanks the police officers for saving her.  In an interview with People magazine, Tatum professes her gratitude, "Just when I was about to change that and wreck my life, the cops came and saved me. I was saved by the bell, by the guys in the 7th precinct." 
Tatum said the recent death of her dog stirred up familiar feelings of grief she had when her mother passed away and she had attempted to get help from her psychiatrist but failed.  "I was doing everything I could do. I have the disease of alcoholism. It’s lifelong. I treat it every day by going to my 12-step program…I was doing everything I could do. I have the disease of alcoholism. It’s lifelong. Looks like Tatum’s trying to get herself together and you can’t hate a person for that, best of luck girl!
