In scenes reminiscent of the Beatles arrival in the US over 40 years ago, hordes of fans and media greeted David and Victoria Beckham as they touched down on US soil last night. Posh n’ Becks were met with enough flashbulbs to light the Rockefeller Christmas tree when they stepped out of the British Airways terminal at LAX – and like royalty, they took it all in their stride.
The LAPD gave the couple a police escort out of the airport to their new Beverly Hills mansion. David will be introduced as the newest member of the LA Galaxy soccer team at a press conference today, while Posh does the rounds of various talk shows and radio broadcasts promoting her new denim line. But the question remains.. Will America take the Beckhams under its wing, or cast them aside like so many Brit invaders in the past (Robbie Williams, Oasis etc etc). We shall see.
